Instructions for adding Member Stallions
at Stud & Horses for Sale:
IMPORTANT NOTE:
:: All ApCHA members with horses already in catalogs have been assigned
login/passwords! (If you do not know your passwords,
click here to receive them again via email.)
:: All ApCHA members with horses already in catalogs
have
:: Step One: If you are
NOT yet registered
as a BuyHorsesOnly.com user,
click here to register: "New
Sign-Up" If you are not sure, email the webmaster
to find out:
Click here(You only need one user registration. If you
have more than one user account in the system, your sale horses
and/or stallions will not display together when visitors click
to view all your current ads.)
:: Step Two: Now
our webmaster needs to add you as a member of the Appaloosa
Cutting Horses catalog(s) This is free, and adds new tools to your
Classified ad management menus when you log in. Until you email the
webmaster and request this action, your ads will still go online
automatically as BuyHorsesOnly classifieds, but not show
up in the online online catalogs. Just click
here now to let the webmaster know you have registered
as a user and ALSO want your ads to appear in the ApCHA catalogs
:: If you ARE a registered user
and a catalog member,
Simply click this "log
in" button:
or the "Log In" buttons provided in the ApCHA
page menus (at left)
Enter your login name and password and click "submit."
:: You will then see a welcome message and your personal tool bar, which looks
something like this:
Your Ranch/Business Name
Email Notify | Place Classified Ad |
Update Classified Ad | Add / Change Photo Update Ranch Page Info
| Add Catalog Horse | Edit Catalog Horse
:: Placing horses
in our catalogs is almost identical to creating classified ads,
but better, because 1 submission form places 2 ads . . . one in the
ApCHA catalog, plus a companion ad in the horse classified
site at
www.buyHorsesOnly.com. If you update a catalog horse,
the classified ad updates automatically each time. Double exposure to
serious buyers and mare owners! Buyers in the classifieds are given a
hot-link to view the ApCHA Catalog Index of all member horses!
Additionally, a catalog entry will never show you a payment button;
will auto-refresh to the top of classified listings every 60 days, AND do
not expire until removed.
::
Choose the "Add Catalog Horse"
link for all your ApCHA member perks ads, unless you have a
particular reason to keep the horse out of the catalog (perhaps an ad
for a non-member friend, in which case, use the "Place Classified Ad"
tool link.) Our classified photo ads are scheduled free for all users
until 2010, so, enjoy!
If you have
registered and do not have those two colored links on your menu,
email Andrea
with your name & business name, and she will fix you up.
THE FOLLOWING TIPS MAY HELP YOU
CREATE YOUR ADS, although the process is simple enough you may
not need to read further, and there are also handy help
menus at BuyHorsesOnly while you are logged in.
:: Note that "Required fields" are
labeled in red text on the form. This means that the
submission form MUST have something in that field (box) in order
to be saved to the web. It is a good idea to fill in those
fields first, then click the "Submit" button at the end of the
form to be sure you will not lose data. Then, reopen the form by
clicking the "Edit Catalog Horse" link on
your management menu and click on the horse's name which will
appear on a list of horses you have submitted so far. Continue
in this fashion until your ad is perfected.
Alert:
If you often lose your web connection, it is wise to save your
horse page every few minutes by clicking the "Update" button
so your work will be saved to the web server. (Until you submit
to the server, your work is only saved on your computer screen.) If you compose
a lengthy description or performance pedigree in a catalog style
format, it helps to do that in a text editor and save it in a
folder on
your computer for future reference. Then you can copy and paste
it into your horse ad page and update it to the web where it is
safely stored.
:: The
first field you encounter when entering a catalog horse is the
name of each catalog to which you are a member. It is a
drop-down list of all catalogs in which you are a member.
It will look like this:
Select
Ranch or this:
If the wrong catalog name displays, click the button at the
right end of the box and then click the catalog title you want
from the dropdown list. This places the horse in the correct
catalog.
:: The next field
controls whether the horse is a "Sale Horse" or a "Reference Sire" in the "ApCHA
Stallion Auction" catalog and/or the "Appaloosa Cutting Members
Stallions at Stud & Horses for Sale" catalog. It will look like this:
Ad Type:
Reference
Sire
Sale Horse
If the wrong radio button
has a black center, click on the other choice.
This places the horse correctly as a "Sale Horse"
or "Stallion at Stud" so each ad appears in the correct
search results being set up by breeders and buyers.
:: Important to understand: When catalog members enter information for a
catalog horse, your ad may not appear online instantly
even though you are able to see a preview page while logged in. Horses
are activated at least every 24 hours. If you email the webmaster
about new entries, we will attempt to activate sooner. Click
HERE to
alert us of newly added horses.
::
"Lot Numbers" are
Required fields.
IMPORTANT: Use 999 as a temporary number for every horse. Daily,
as the ads are activated, the webmaster will assign permanent
numbers daily to keep horses in relative positions to entry
order.
:: As a member, you DO have the ability to make changes in
your catalog horse entries, such as editing the information, changing a photo, etc.
To prevent the possibility of your accidentally deleting a cataloged
horse, a "Delete" option is not on your menu. To remove a horse,
contact the webmaster and we will gladly do it.
:: Most other form
functions are fairly self explanatory. If you have questions,
there is a help menu on all submission pages, where you will also find
a link for "Help." We weill be happy to assist you with any
problems you encounter.
:: A single "user" account should be the only one you need, now and in the
future. It is important
NOT to set up additional user accounts, because that will cause an incomplete index of your horses to come up when people click the
"view our current listings" link that appears on every catalog or classified page, as well as on your ranch page.
If you should happen to have multiple user accounts already, please get in touch with Andrea
by
Email to combine all your ads into one account before
creating your catalog entry!
If you are not sure if you have multiple accounts set up, we
will check on that for you.
