 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2002:

Review,   Preview,  and Follow Your Dreams

by Dr Philip E. Humbert
January, 2001

Webmaster's note:

I am a subscriber to Dr. Humbert's weekly newsletter,  which arrives every Sunday in my e-box.  It's one of the things I look forward to the most each week.  I thought this message was particularly inspiring and wanted to share it with all my friends and visitors.  If you enjoy it and hunger for more inspiration on a regular basis,  I recommend his newsletter highly.  There are instructions at the bottom of this page.

Andrea Mattson,  webmaster
    HorsesONLY.com

Part I:
Last Year in Review:

1. What was my greatest blessing this year? What excited and stretched me? What am I most grateful for?

2. What was my greatest achievement? What did I accomplish that has really paid off? What am I proudest of from this year?

3. What were my three most dramatic and important mistakes? Where did I go wrong? Who did I offend, or what did I mis-calculate? Where did I over-commit and under-perform? Most importantly, what can I learn from
those experiences?

4. What lessons do I most want to take with me into the new year? How have I grown this year? How am I wiser, more skilled, more mature, more productive?

5. How would [my spouse], my best friend and my Mother look at these things? What would they say about last year? About my performance? About my failings and the things I've learned?

Part II:
New Year in Preview:

1. As a family, what can we do to enrich our lives this year? How can I do my part to make our marriage richer, more fun, more intimate and loving?

2. What would I like to add, change, or eliminate in my life this year?

3. What do I want to do to stretch myself, to enrich my experience and become more like the person I want to be?

4. In the business, what goals do I have for 2002? How many people would I like to serve? Any financial goals? What services can I add, or should I cancel? How can I serve my clients better?

5. What steps will I take to maintain my health? What am I committed to do as far as fitness, my health and my body are concerned?

6. Intellectually, how will I keep sharp this year? What will I read, what do I need to study, what skills do I need to master this year?

Part III:
Life Dreams:

1. Where am I going in the next 10, 20, and 30 years? How do I want to live? Where?

2. What are my major values and purposes for the next phase of my life? What brings me the most fulfillment and gratification? How can I add more and more of that to my daily experience over the next 10 years?

3. If I got to attempt only one more BIG achievement or project in my lifetime, what would it be? What is the most important thing for me to do or achieve in the next 10 years?

I'm sure many of you will have your own version of this list, or perhaps a version that works better for you, but these questions help me focus my thoughts and form goals and projects that are meaningful.
