Equine Educational Reproduction Program

The breeding herd of horses is maintained in the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University for teaching, extension and research purposes.

Iowa State University Department of Animal Science owns 45+ horses consisting of Paints, Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds. All young horses are sold as weanlings, yearlings or two-year olds.

This herd is housed at the Equine Farm on campus. Some mares are housed on pasture at various locations around Ames.
