click the "New

The above is a free user registration for a ranch, business, etc. You are given hot links to web and email, and unlimited space to tell about your ranch, business, services, and horse related activities. People can find you by searching on Business/Ranch Name, your last name, first name, or state. It's a nice thing to utilize, no matter what, and we welcome you.
The
next step in setting up a catalog is to fill out the information form
to "Set
Up a Sale Catalog." This form sends information to our
catalog administrator, who will then contact you by email or
phone with further instructions and answer any questions you may
have. Once your catalog has been activated, you can log in
to your catalog management account with your special login and
password. You will see a toolbar like this:
Add
a Member | Add Catalog Horse | Activate/Update Horses
Update Catalog Description/Details | Create
Print Listing
Thank
you for logging in, <your name>.
Now you can use your personal toolbar, above.
The first thing to do is add
yourself as a member of the catalog using the "Add
A Member" link on your Manager account toolbar. This will make
it possible for you to add your horses while logged in as the catalog
manager, where every horse entered is "activated" by default.
This puts their page online instantly. (You can enter horses
using your regular user account, but you will have to log out as
a regular user and log in as catalog manager to activate each horse
entered.) The activation control is not needed for your own
horses, but should you invite others to become members of your
catalog, you have the ability to review their pages before they appear
in your catalog index and can be seen online. This
procedure is designed to allow you as a catalog manager, to have
various administrative control over your "members." This
includes activating/deactivating catalog horses, and deleting horse
ads.
To add yourself or others as a
member, click the "Add A Member" link and follow the
simple instructions to locate their user account and add them.
If you have any problems, contact me and I will walk you through
this procedure.
To create a catalog horse page,
just click the link that says
"Add Catalog Horse" The form will now display, and you can
enter your first cataloged horse. The form is very similar to
the regular classified horse submission form. The information
you enter will create a catalog page AND automatically create a free
companion classified ad that will appear instantly in the BuyHorsesOnly.com classified site, hot-linked back to you sale
catalog's complete index of sale horses.
You will see a
field to number your cataloged horses called "Lot Number."
These are not assigned by the computer, so you are free to number and re-number, replace scratched horses, etc. Note: Use numbers only. This is a
"Required Field" ... meaning that each cataloged horse must be
assigned a number. You may skip numbers, but it is not a
good idea to use the same number more than once. These numbers are
necessary to make the Arrow Navigation work correctly for your online
catalog visitors, so they can browse your catalog directly from
page to page by clicking the "Next" or "Previous" arrows.
Help is usually available 7 days a week, so don't hesitate to let us know if you run into anything that doesn't seem clear.
In the sidebar menu on this page will find general instructions about using forms,
or click here:
http://www.horsesonly.com/bho/help/default.htm
(This is the "Questions" link near the top of all the classified or catalog pages.)
A single "user" account should be the only one you need, now and in the
future. It is important
NOT to set up additional user accounts, because that will cause an incomplete index of your horses to come up when people click the
"view our current listings" link that appears on every catalog or classified page, as well as on your ranch page.
If you should happen to have multiple user accounts already, please get in touch with Andrea
by email to combine all your ads into one account before
creating your catalog!
If you are not sure if you have multiple accounts set up, we
will check on that for you.
You can make changes in catalog horse entries,
like editing information, changing a photo, etc.
Do this by clicking the
"Edit Catalog Horse" link from your management
tool bar, then selecting (clicking) the horse name from the list of horses
which will be displayed.
When you are finished adding or updating horses, you can click the
"Logout" link near the top of the window ... the last item on the "Ad Management" column.
We
have feature now to allow for camera-ready printed catalog master pages.

Because of this, you see 2 entry boxes for the horse "Description"
area in catalog horse submission forms.
-
Everything in the first
"Description box will appear in your printed
catalog. This box is
limited in the number of characters that will fit your chosen catalog style, and a counter is provided to help you know when you have reached that limit. (I will help you determine what that
approximate number will be.)
The
2nd "Description" field
is
unlimited in the amount of information it
will hold. NOTE: Some text must be present
in the first "Description" box before information from the 2nd box
will display online.
|
Everything in BOTH "Description" boxes will display in the online catalog
AND classified companion ads.
-
ONLY the text in the first "Description" box will display in the special printed catalog format.
For general help topics:
http://www.horsesonly.com/bho/help/place-ads.htm
You will find step-by-step instructions at the above link. Please also notice the list of topics in the vertical menu at the left side of the page. This menu should cover nearly any function you should encounter. If not, you can click the last link in that menu, which is
"Email for HELP." That is my email address, and I will send specific instructions for your problem. You may also reach me by phone at: 785-456-8600.
If the photos you plan to use need to be cropped or have background distractions
removed, please send them to me directly by email, and provide the name of the horse or Ad ID number so I can do this for you and attach the image. There is no extra charge for this service, and it is actually easier for me if you send the photo directly. Once it has been placed online, our automatic photo handling program has optimized the image for web use, and this makes it more difficult for me to work with.
For photo and scanning tips, and instructions on attaching images to email,
